Aware Search introduces the first web search tool to put the full power of semantic search in the hands of end-users. SEATTLE, Washington, November 1, 2007
– Aware Search (owned and operated by Stottler Henke Associates), today
announced two new versions of its popular context-aware semantic Web search
tool. Aware takes personalized,
contextual search to a new level by focusing on the user’s immediate
information need, producing results that are relevant to the user’s
specific topic, not just their “keywords”.
Shown above, Aware 2.0 represents a
substantial refinement of the original system – providing a streamlined
user interface, as well as new parallel search, vocabulary management, and
result review capabilities. Aware 2.0
is currently in Beta testing with commercial release expected in early
2008. The software has been designed
for Windows XP and Vista. Stottler Henke is also seeking users
willing to participate in the Alpha testing of a dramatically different
Web-based interface concept. Shown
below, this interface introduces the SearchUnbound concept in which users define
their search context within a large multi-purpose box. Within this box users may provide search
terms, semantic concepts, and even text fragments (e.g., bibliography
entries). SearchUnbound then exploits
the underlying Aware search engine to generate qualitatively different
queries in an automated effort to identify information relevant to the user
request. The user can then sort
through these results using a unique faceted browsing system.
Aware is the latest in a series of
commercial software products created by Stottler Henke, a software
development firm that specializes in applying artificial intelligence and
other advanced technologies to create “smart” systems and
tools. Aware was originally developed
with funding from the US Air Force and NASA to manage the complexity of
searching through its vast stores of knowledge quickly and efficiently. Founded in 1988, Stottler Henke
Associates, Inc. applies artificial intelligence and other advanced software
technologies to solve problems that defy solution using traditional
approaches. The company delivers intelligent software solutions for education
and training, planning and scheduling, knowledge management and discovery,
decision support, and software development. Stottler Henke's clients include
manufacturers, retailers, educational media companies and government
agencies. Stottler Henke received a
“Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning” award for innovative
technology, and was named one of the "top 100" companies making a
significant impact on the military training industry by Military Training
Technology magazine. E-mail: info@stottlerhenke.com;
